Today's Connections Hints & Answers For June 22, 2024 (Puzzle #376) (2024)

In today's Connections there are a few tricky spots, and the words do not immediately scream similarities to each other. Ironically, the normally hardest category is a little easier today, depending on your knowledge of food slang. Join us in solving today's Connections with some of our tips and tricks.

If you have a completed puzzle and still want to test your brain power, you should check out Wordle from the NYT. It is also word-and-logic based, but instead of constructing words into categories you are breaking a word down into each of its letter pieces. This makes it both a lot of fun and fairly challenging to keep your brain engaged.

Today, the categories feel a little disjointed, especially at first when you just see the words for the first time. It is easy to mess some of them up, just because the words seemingly crossover or look like they belong elsewhere. With that in mind, here are just the categories for today's puzzle.

CHAIN

SERIES

STRING

TRAIN

LINK should belong in this category and it is a tragedy that it does not. However, we knew it had to be a series of something, or creating one, as CHAIN and SERIES both felt like they were pushing that direction. STRING was likewise immediately put in this category, but TRAIN was a little tricker.

DRIVER

IRON

WEDGE

WOOD

As someone who has not played a round of golf besides mini-golf, this one was tricky. DRIVER was taken quite literally as someone driving someone else. IRON felt like it might go with CHAIN and WOOD as well as a different type of fence, and we spent way too long trying to figure out the last category in this puzzle. Sadly, it ended up ruining our streak as we lost sight of the prize.

BIRDS

FOG

OMEN

RING

This one felt very strange without the "the" in front of the words, and we did not get around to this category to try to solve for it. However, we did see that FOG and OMEN seemed to go together, even if we did not know why. RING and BIRDS seemed like they did not belong in many other places, and we likely would have got this one if we had let the last category go but alas we are very stubborn.

WORDS FOR SAUSAGE

BRAT

DOG

FRANK

LINK

We were abtssolutely certain that three of these words went together, and they did! The bad news is we got too caught up in getting the right fourth word and ruined our Connections streak because of it. However, we also got stuck on these words as synonyms for hot dogs specifically, not sausage, so we missed the obvious LINK due to the fixation on a very similar but slightly different word.
