Preservation of Rights. Your PII advocate.Who amongst us has not received a letter or email from a large corporation or institution at some point informing you that they have failed to protect your data and are essentially washing their hands of any consequences in exchange for 1 year's subscription to a credit monitoring service. It is the current standard response and IT IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH! We all deserve better than that - better protection of our data, a share in the revenue the selling of our data generates, increased accountability from those breached companies and compensation for any damages suffered regardless of when those manifest. We should all be outraged and shake off the apathy that accompanies yet another notification. "Hasn't everybody been subject to a PII leak"? Probably, but that does not make it right and until we hold these institutions accountable, little is likely to change. Our new service to provide assistance to victims launches on Tuesday September 1st 2024 and has been created in response to the outrage we have witnessed and the sense that everybody is alone and without recourse. The underlying threat of malicious cyber activity. When will the insurance world acknowledge that the threat from malicious cyber actors is not merely a mathematical equation of premiums charged against claims paid, but a full-on war with intent to destroy our institutions and, by extension, our world as we know it? The sooner we address these threats with more appropriate counter-measures, the sooner we will begin to turn the tide. We are not fighting a conventional war here and we need to get creative in how we react. Decentralize, redundancy, analog back up, elimination of complacency, self-determination will all play a part. Status quo is no longer an option. Follow us as we create solutions and make them available to both the business community and the individual. Thought for the day - IT/OT security spend Do any boards or Small Businesses out there really know what they are spending their money on as they write bigger and bigger checks for 'cyber security'? We would guess the answer is 'not really'. Is cyber security in itself a form of extortion? Pay us this or you will be targeted? It's about time cyber security companies were held accountable for what they promise and what they deliver. We challenge any company, however big, to do it all as every client has different needs and vulnerabilities. Understanding those vulnerabilities is crucial to protecting your business and protection your livelihood. Manufacturers, financial firms, lawyers, healthcare etc. we urge you to devote the necessary time to understanding your vulnerabilities and directing your resources to addressing them specifically. A security blanket of generic services and a cyber insurance policy does not constitute a responsible defensive posture. #security #cyber #cryptonews #observatorystrategicmanagement

Lady Megan...I have come to believe that a root cause of the disconnect is a failure to understand exactly what cyber security companies have contracted to do. As we know, there is no company out there who can do it all so it comes back to 'inventory'. Only when you understand your vulnerabilities can you start looking for ways to protect them. If we can prevail upon senior execs to ask the right questions we can help them to come up with the correct answers.
