Kirawira Serena Camp | The Serengeti (1)

Kirawira Serena Camp offers the epitome of classic 'Out of Africa' safari camp luxury. It is located adjacent to the famous Western Corridor of the Serengeti National Park - the arena of the 'Greatest Wildlife Show on Earth', the annual migration of over one million wildebeest. During the months of May and June the camp is perfectly located for the great wildebeest migration. The plains around the camp fill up with animals heading north and preparing to cross the Grumeti River.

Whilst the annual migration is the Serengeti's most famous attraction, the Park is also renowned for its lion, many of which have been fitted with radio-transmitter collars so that their movements may be tracked, and additionally for its wealth of cheetah, zebra, giraffe, Thomson's and Grant's gazelle, eland, impala, klipspringer, hippo and warthog.

Designed in typically Edwardian style, the camp features an elegant central meeting tent evocatively furnished with a tasteful selection of chintz-covered chaises longues, Persian rugs, antique escritoire, wind-up phonograms, leather-bound travelling cases, brass shooting sticks, carved rocking chairs, and stud-backed smoking chairs.

In keeping with the theme of colonial opulence, the elegant dining tent features Edwardian-styled furniture, crisp-starched napery, delicate blue and white china and silver accoutrements, whilst the staff are attired in classical colonial 'mess' uniform of white Swahili robes.

The camp has 25 widely-spaced tents, raised on timber platforms, each with a glorious view of the plains. Each tent has a spacious furnished deck leading to a bedroom furnished in antique Edwardian style with steamer-trunks, writing desk, brass lamps, rugs, sepia photographs and 4 poster bed with patchwork quilt. The en-suite bathroom is fitted with carved mahogany furniture, and has a shower and twin marble basins. As an added little luxury, enjoy the personal attention of your very own valet to see to any request.
